lemur
Big-eyed Malagasy
Lemurs are primates native to Madagascar, characterized by large reflective eyes, long tails, and fox-like faces.
They range from the tiny mouse lemur to the cat-sized ring-tailed lemur, and most are arboreal and nocturnal.
The name comes from Latin for "spirits of the dead," referring to their ghostly nighttime calls and glowing eyes.
Ring-tailed lemurs are the most recognizable species.
