fossa
Depression in bone
A fossa is an anatomical pit or depression, particularly the shallow depressions in bones where muscles attach or joints articulate: the iliac fossa of the pelvis, the cranial fossa.
Separately, a fossa is a cat-like carnivore native to Madagascar that preys on lemurs—the island's largest predator.
