gorilla
Largest living primate
A gorilla is the largest of the great apes, native to the forests of central Africa.
The word extends to anything massive or powerful: a gorilla of a man, an 800-pound gorilla (a dominant force that cannot be ignored).
In slang, gorilla sometimes describes a thug or enforcer: The loan shark sent his gorillas to collect.
