post-colonial
Following colonial rule
Post-colonial describes the period or conditions following the end of colonial rule, or the critical study of colonialism's lasting effects.
Post-colonial nations are former colonies now governing themselves.
Post-colonial theory examines how imperial power shaped culture, identity, and knowledge in colonized societies—and how those effects persist: post-colonial literature, post-colonial studies.
The hyphen is sometimes dropped.
