pledge
Word of honor
A pledge is a solemn promise or commitment: a pledge of allegiance, a pledge to support the cause.
It also means something given as security for a loan or obligation—you pledge collateral.
In American universities, a pledge is someone in the trial period before full fraternity or sorority membership.
To pledge is to make such a promise or commitment: They pledged to donate half their wealth.
