asset
Something of worth
An asset is something that has value.
The broad meaning of asset can be divided for practical purposes between assets that are exchangeable for money or some other compensation, and those that can’t, such as the qualities of a person or place.
In law, assets are all the property and valuable things that a person owns.
In accounting, assets appear on a balance sheet in contrast with liabilities.
Some assets arise situationally, where they can be thought of as an advantage: On-the-job experience is one of the assets we’re looking for in our next general manager.
