radiothon
On-air donation drive
A radiothon is a lengthy broadcast on radio (or by extension television) designed to raise money for a charity or cause, typically featuring entertainment, appeals for donations, and running tallies of funds collected.
The format combines marathon duration with pledge drives: The public radio station's annual radiothon raised over two million dollars.
Telethon is the television equivalent.
