parliamentarianism
Cabinet answers to legislature
Parliamentarianism is a system of government in which the executive branch derives its authority from and is accountable to the legislature.
The prime minister and cabinet must maintain the confidence of parliament to remain in power, unlike presidential systems where the executive is elected independently.
Most European democracies operate under some form of parliamentarianism.
