pan pipes
Graduated reed instrument
Pan pipes are a wind instrument made of tubes of graduated length bound together, played by blowing across their open tops.
Each tube produces a different pitch, creating melody through the player's movement along the row.
The instrument appears across many cultures but takes its English name from the Greek god Pan, traditionally depicted playing one.
Also called panpipes or a pan flute.
