electric organ
Hammond or Wurlitzer
An electric organ is a keyboard instrument that produces sound through electronic amplification rather than pipes or reeds, developed in the early twentieth century as a more affordable and portable alternative to pipe organs.
Hammond organs and similar instruments became fixtures in churches, jazz clubs, and rock bands.
The term also refers to a specialized body part in certain fish, such as electric eels and torpedo rays, that generates electrical discharges for stunning prey or self-defense.
