multicopter
Multiple rotor aircraft
A multicopter is an aircraft lifted and propelled by multiple rotors—typically four (quadcopter), six (hexacopter), or eight (octocopter).
Unlike helicopters with their single main rotor, multicopters achieve stability and maneuverability through varying the speed of individual rotors.
Most consumer drones are multicopters: The multicopter hovered steadily while filming the wedding.
