mounding

Forming raised hills

Mounding is the act of forming or gathering into a mound—a rounded pile or heap.

Dirt gets mounded around plants, pillows get mounded on a bed, food gets mounded on a plate: She was mounding whipped cream onto the pie.

In baseball, mounding refers to the pitcher's work from the mound.
