bullpen

Where closers wait

A bullpen is the area in a baseball stadium where relief pitchers warm up before entering the game, and by extension, the relief pitchers themselves as a group: Their bullpen blew another save.

The term comes from an enclosure for bulls.

In offices, a bullpen is an open workspace where multiple employees sit together without private offices.

In police stations, a bullpen is a holding area for detainees awaiting processing.
