depositing

Adding to account

Depositing is the act of placing something somewhere for safekeeping or accumulation.

Most commonly, it refers to putting money into a bank account: I'm depositing my paycheck tomorrow.

The word extends to physical placement—sediment depositing on a riverbed, a bird depositing an egg in a nest.

To deposit can also mean leaving something as a pledge or down payment.
