planting
Setting into soil
Planting is the act of putting seeds, bulbs, or young plants into the ground to grow.
The word also refers to a grouping of planted vegetation: a planting of azaleas along the fence, new plantings in the median.
In figurative use, planting suggests placing something where it will take root or have effect: the planting of ideas, the planting of evidence.
