mould
Hollow for shaping
Mould is the British spelling of mold in all its senses.
A mould is a hollow container that shapes liquid or soft material as it hardens: a jelly mould, a mould for casting bronze.
To mould is to shape something, literally or figuratively: She moulded the clay with her hands, experiences that mould character.
Mould is also the fuzzy fungal growth on damp surfaces or decaying matter: There's mould on the bread.
The spelling mold predominates in American English.
