Indonesian soy cake
Tempeh is a protein-rich food made from fermented soybeans bound into a firm, dense cake.
Originally Indonesian, it has become a staple in vegetarian and vegan cooking as a meat substitute: I marinated the tempeh and grilled it for tacos.
Unlike tofu, tempeh has a nutty flavor and chewy texture from the whole beans and fermentation process.
