common brick
Basic building block
Common brick is ordinary building brick, as distinguished from face brick or firebrick.
Common bricks are cheaper, less uniform in color, and typically used where appearance doesn't matter—in foundations, backing walls, or structures that will be covered.
The old warehouse was built entirely of common brick.
