sake

Fermented rice beverage

Sake has two main uses.

For the sake of something means for its benefit or purpose: for the sake of argument, for safety's sake, art for art's sake.

In exclamations, sake expresses exasperation: for God's sake, for heaven's sake, for Pete's sake.

The other sake, pronounced SAH-keh, is Japanese rice wine.
