genetic variation
Hereditary sequence diversity
Genetic variation is the differences in DNA sequences among individuals within a population.
These differences arise through mutation, sexual reproduction, and gene flow between populations.
Genetic variation provides the raw material for natural selection and evolution—without it, populations cannot adapt to changing environments.
The study measured genetic variation across three isolated wolf populations.
