exhaustion
Beyond mere tiredness
Exhaustion is the state of being completely drained of energy or resources.
Physical exhaustion follows intense exertion; mental exhaustion follows prolonged concentration or stress.
The word implies depletion beyond ordinary tiredness: She collapsed from exhaustion after the marathon.
Exhaustion also describes using something up entirely: the exhaustion of our natural resources.
