oxytocin

Social bonding hormone

Oxytocin is a hormone produced in the brain that triggers uterine contractions during childbirth and milk release during breastfeeding.

It also promotes bonding and social connection, earning it the nickname "love hormone." Oxytocin levels rise during physical affection, sex, and positive social interactions: Cuddling releases oxytocin.
