HRT

Transition treatment, briefly

HRT stands for hormone replacement therapy, a medical treatment that supplements hormones the body no longer produces adequately.

Most commonly prescribed for menopausal women to relieve symptoms like hot flashes and bone loss, HRT also refers to hormone therapy for transgender individuals as part of gender transition: She's been on HRT for six months. (Lowercase hrt is informal for "heart.")
