electrical impulses
Current through nerves
Electrical impulses are brief bursts of electrical activity that travel through nerves, muscles, or circuits.
In biology, they're the signals by which neurons communicate—the brain sends electrical impulses to move a finger or register pain.
The term also applies to similar signals in electronic systems.
The heart's electrical impulses regulate its rhythm.
