helper
One who assists
A helper is someone or something that assists with a task or provides support.
The word emphasizes a secondary role—the helper aids the primary person doing the work: I need a helper in the kitchen, Santa's helpers.
Helper can also describe things that facilitate: a helper function in programming, a memory helper.
In some contexts, helper suggests informal or volunteer assistance rather than professional expertise.
