help out

Lend a hand

Help out means to assist someone, often with a task or difficult situation.

The "out" adds a sense of stepping in when needed or pitching in to share a burden: Can you help out with the dishes?

My neighbor helped out when my car broke down.

It's slightly more casual than help alone and often implies volunteering effort rather than professional service.
