leader
One who guides
The leader is the one that others follow, typically those in business, government, and sports.
Leader can be used to denote anyone or anything that commands or is in first place: The company is a leader in finance and accounting software. Leaders of the Church were not prepared for the reaction to their decision.
Another kind of leader is the row of dots that leads the eyes from an entry in a table of contents to its page number.
