broker
Commission-earning intermediary
A broker is a person or firm that arranges transactions between buyers and sellers, typically earning a commission for the service.
Real estate brokers help people buy and sell property; stockbrokers execute trades in financial markets; insurance brokers find policies for clients.
The term extends to anyone who negotiates or mediates deals: She brokered a peace agreement between the factions.
To broker something is to arrange or negotiate it, often involving parties who might not otherwise connect directly.
