Steam room tradition
A hamam is a Turkish bathhouse—a communal facility for steam bathing, washing, and relaxation.
The tradition spread throughout the Islamic world and remains popular in the Middle East and Mediterranean.
Visitors move through rooms of increasing heat, are scrubbed and massaged, then rest in a cooling area.
