Blue Mosque
Turkish domed masterpiece
The Blue Mosque is a 17th-century Ottoman mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, named for the blue tiles decorating its interior.
Its six minarets and cascading domes make it one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.
The name also applies to other mosques featuring blue tilework, including those in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, and Tabriz, Iran.
