pampering

Spoiling with attention

Pampering is indulgent care or attention—treating someone (or yourself) with unusual comfort and luxury.

A spa day, breakfast in bed, or letting a child skip chores might all count as pampering.

The word carries a hint of excess: After the project ended, she spent a week pampering herself.

What qualifies as pampering depends on what's normal—for some, it's a massage; for others, simply sleeping in.
