medic
Combat first responder
A medic is someone trained to provide emergency medical care, especially in military or paramedical contexts.
In the armed forces, a medic treats wounded soldiers in combat zones: Medic! We need a medic over here!
The term extends to civilian emergency medical technicians and paramedics.
Informally, medic can mean any medical professional: Her son is training to be a medic.
