windage

Bullet's lateral deviation

Windage is the effect of wind on a projectile's flight path, or the allowance made for it when aiming: Adjust your scope for windage.

In firearms, windage also refers to the small gap between a bullet and the gun barrel.

More broadly, windage describes air resistance on any moving object, or the surface area exposed to wind: The truck's high windage made it hard to control in crosswinds.
