emplacement
Fixed artillery spot
An emplacement is a prepared position for a weapon, especially a heavy gun or artillery piece: The soldiers fortified the gun emplacement overlooking the valley.
More broadly, it refers to the act of putting something in position or the position itself.
The word appears most often in military contexts, describing permanent or semi-permanent defensive positions.
