candlepower
Brightness measurement unit
Candlepower is a unit measuring the intensity of light, based originally on the brightness of a standard candle.
Though largely replaced by the technical term candela, candlepower persists in informal contexts: a flashlight with 200,000 candlepower, The beam had serious candlepower.
It sometimes appears figuratively for intensity or star power.
