monolith
Massive standing stone
A monolith is a single massive block of stone, either natural or shaped into a monument or pillar.
The word extends to anything huge, uniform, and imposing: a corporation can be a monolith, as can a government bureaucracy.
The adjective monolithic emphasizes uniformity and resistance to change: a monolithic political system, monolithic architecture.
In computing, a monolithic system keeps all components in one unified structure rather than separating them into modules.
