ABS
Wheel lockup preventer
ABS stands for anti-lock braking system, the technology that prevents wheels from locking up during hard braking: The ABS kicked in on the icy road.
In manufacturing, ABS refers to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, a common thermoplastic used in everything from LEGO bricks to automotive parts. (Lowercase abs typically means abdominal muscles.)
