townie

Non-student resident

A townie is a permanent resident of a college town who isn't affiliated with the university—distinct from students who come and go.

The term often carries mild condescension from students toward locals: There was tension between townies and frat boys at the bar.

In British English, townie can mean someone from an urban area as opposed to the countryside, or describe unsophisticated city dwellers.
