pasturing
Letting livestock graze
Pasturing is putting livestock out to graze on grassland.
Farmers speak of pasturing cattle or sheep, meaning they turn the animals out to feed on open land rather than keeping them in barns or feedlots: We've been pasturing the herd in the north field since May.
The land itself may be called pasturage.
