harvester

Field collection machine

A harvester is a person or machine that gathers crops from fields.

The term applies broadly to anyone engaged in harvest work, but more commonly refers to agricultural machinery designed to cut and collect grain, corn, or other crops.

A combine harvester performs multiple operations—cutting, threshing, and cleaning grain—in a single pass through the field.

Harvester extends metaphorically to anything that systematically collects: data harvesters, organ harvesters.
