planter

Decorative soil container

A planter is a container for growing plants, typically decorative and used for flowers or ornamental greenery on patios, porches, or indoors.

Planter also means one who plants—a farmer who plants crops, or historically, the owner of a plantation: a Virginia planter in 1750.

A planter may also refer to a mechanical device that plants seeds.
