Faraday rotation
Magnetic polarization shift
Faraday rotation is the rotation of the plane of polarization of light as it passes through a material in a magnetic field.
The amount of rotation depends on the field strength, the distance traveled, and properties of the material.
The effect is used in optical isolators, fiber-optic sensors, and astronomical measurements of magnetic fields in space.
