dashboards
Vehicle control displays
Dashboards originally referred to the board at the front of a horse-drawn carriage that protected passengers from mud dashed up by hooves.
The term transferred to automobiles for the panel facing the driver, housing instruments and controls.
In computing, a dashboard is a visual display consolidating key information—metrics, charts, status indicators—for monitoring at a glance: The sales dashboard shows real-time revenue figures.
