dashboard camera
Windshield video witness
A dashboard camera, or dashcam, is a small video camera mounted on a vehicle's dashboard or windshield that continuously records the view through the front (or rear) window while driving.
Dashcams serve as evidence in accidents, insurance disputes, and encounters with police.
They became widespread after viral footage from Russian dashcams popularized the technology: The dashcam footage showed the other driver ran the red light.
