segue

Seamless topic change

A segue is a smooth transition from one thing to another without pause or interruption.

The term comes from music, where one piece flows directly into the next, but now applies broadly: The conversation segued from politics to sports.

As a verb, to segue is to make such a transition: Let me segue into our next topic.
