queuing

Standing in line

Queuing is forming or waiting in a line, or the process of adding items to a sequence for later processing.

More common in British English, where queue itself dominates over line: We spent an hour queuing for tickets.

In computing, queuing refers to organizing tasks or data in order: The system handles request queuing automatically.

Also spelled queueing.
