follow-through

Finish what's started

Follow-through is the completion of a motion after its main action—the swing of a bat or golf club continuing after contact with the ball, the arm extending after releasing a basketball.

The concept transfers to any sustained effort after an initial commitment: The plan was good, but the follow-through was lacking.

Someone with poor follow-through starts things but doesn't finish them.
