convexity

Dome's defining shape

Convexity is the quality of curving outward, like the exterior of a sphere—the opposite of concavity.

A lens or mirror has convexity when it bulges toward the viewer.

In finance, convexity measures how a bond's price sensitivity to interest rates changes as rates move, capturing the curvature in the price-yield relationship: The portfolio's convexity protects against large rate swings.
