polyhedron
Flat-faced volume
A polyhedron is a three-dimensional solid bounded entirely by flat surfaces called faces, which meet at straight edges and vertices.
Common examples include cubes, pyramids, and prisms.
The term comes from Greek words meaning "many seats" or "many bases," reflecting how these shapes sit on multiple flat planes.
In geometry, polyhedra are classified by their number of faces: a tetrahedron has four, a cube (or hexahedron) has six, and a dodecahedron has twelve.
