controls
Regulates or commands
Controls are mechanisms for operating or regulating something—the controls of an aircraft, the controls on a stereo.
The word extends to any means of restraint or direction: parental controls, price controls, border controls.
In experiments, controls are comparison groups left untreated to measure the effect of intervention.
A control freak insists on managing everything.
